Nebbiolo

RED WINE

Nebbiolo is mostly grown in the Piedmont region of Italy. The skins of this red varietal are fairly light in color. In order to produce a light to medium ruby red wine, the juice is left in contact with the skins for an extended period of time. This produces wines with relatively high tannins, making them suitable for long aging. Nebbiolo wines have aromas of dried cherries, roses, and tar (yes, your read that right!). Younger versions may be similar to a dry, Burgundian-style Pinot Noir. Aged versions like Barbaresco and Barolo are full-bodied, powerul wines with incredible complexity.
